This past weekend I participated in intense work with fellow colleagues from Colorado and across the nation. #TeacherChampions is part of the amazing organization known as Collaborative for Student Success and Educators for Higher Standards. What I love about this opportunity is the value and collaboration that occurs. Now, I have been to Washington, D.C. multiple times, and each time I come back more excited and refueled to be an educator and impact the profession. Working with so many amazing educators is a blessing and gift. I'm grateful to be surrounded by these stellar leaders and learn so much from them. From the discussions to free time, I have the opportunity to hear so many perspectives of what is happening in other schools across the nation. I'm able to gain further insight on how I can impact and change the profession for my students and colleagues. Being an educator requires me to be updated and innovative. Our world is changing rapidly and so are our students. I enjoy attending conferences and workshops to sharpen my instruction and work towards engaging my students to be great leaders for the future. What would the world be like with out teachers. Well, check out this video here. It was a great weekend of learning. It was a great weekend of discovering how I can impact the educational profession. It was a great weekend to be surrounded with so many educators on the same mission...Elevate the Voices of All Educators. Thank you to Katrina and all the #TeacherChampions who I engaged working with this weekend. Thank you for the friendship, the advice, and the leadership. Until next time, may all educators unite and do what is best for ALL our students.

3-years ago I became part of an amazing group of educators from across the nation. I built a large Personal Learning Network (PLN) and expanded my knowledge in the field of education. In addition, I have been able to find my voice as an educator and have been able to share this great learning experience with my students. Our world has evolved greatly in last century. The 21st century has brought new insight to the educational field and policies that surround the profession. So many new high stakes are taking place and sometimes feels that we are just adding and dropping curriculum, testing, etc., continuously. However, the main question is "when will we find the right pathway?" As a member and LEAD fellow of the America Achieves organization, I am growing as an educator in the profession. I have gained great knowledge about school policies and how to communicate effectively with legislators. I would have never imagined in my life that I would be doing such work as an educator. Because of America Achieves I have been able to inform many people about the issues affecting education and training others on how to support education and establish an education system that supports what's best for ALL students and educators. I have been able to build my skills of advocating more and shaping policies along side with legislators using the many tools and skills America Achieves has given me. I value education, and I value the education profession. Students matter! The value of education and how we as educators and legislators shape this "gift" to students is truly important for the future. There is more to education than the books or curriculum we use; funding and equity and assessment are several of many topics that affect education. We have evolved from the traditional one room, one school house. We are in an era of continuous growth. We are in an era where students and educators have to prepare for the future. We are in an era where our world is shaped by the foundations of our schools. I look forward to what year 3 of being a Colorado fellow and LEAD fellow for America Achieves will bring. I look forward to the new fellow's work, and how they shape the profession. Let year 3 begin! |
